An early demo tape entitled Debris was released in the summer of 1996 only to be recalled and destroyed after the band decided to start over with fresh material. After some experimentation, Imperative Reaction started working on a new demo to be released the following year. Imperative Reaction's first effort, Persistence of Memory, set the Los Angeles scene ablaze and earned Phelps and Andrecht a spot on the critically acclaimed compilation album, Exoskeleton Vol. 1. Released on Possessive Blindfold Recordings in the winter of 1997, the album featured Imperative Reaction's contribution "Predicate." Driven by the overwhelming response to the song, Imperative Reaction set out to record their full-length debut in January of 1998. After a short tour to support the Exoskeleton release, Imperative Reaction and P.B.R. parted company leaving Imperative Reaction free to sign with Pendragon Records in October 1998.

In February of 1999, Eulogy For The Sick Child was released. Comprised of material created during the band's short, three-year history, Eulogy... was an immediate success in the United States. In March of '99, the album rested comfortably in the top ten of the CMJ (RPM) charts along with topping countless college radio stations "most played" lists. The overwhelming success of Eulogy For The Sick Child prompted the legendary Zoth Ommog Records to license the album for the European Territory in April of 1999. Europe greeted the release with massive club and radio play as well as stellar reviews in publications such as Side Line and NME. "Scorpio" the opening track on the album, enjoys massive club play worldwide to this day. In the summer of 1999, the band found itself on Metropolis Records as the result of the seminal label's buy out of Pendragon Records. The rest of the year was spent playing shows to support Eulogy opening for such notable acts as Attrition, and Scar Tissue.

With the addition of Jason DM and Sam P. of Pulse Legion to the live band, 2000 proved to be a very important year for Imperative Reaction. Their explosive live shows became much more engaging than they had been in the past. Imperative Reaction began to build a reputation for itself as a must-see band as offers from venues all over North America began to pour in. In August, Phelps and Andrecht completed work on "Rift" which would be featured on the Counterbalance compilation on Inception Records the following year. The track was well received by fans and the press.

In early 2001 work began on the follow up to Eulogy.... It was clear early on that the album would be a departure from the debut with it's straight ahead approach and clean vocal style. Phelps spent the entire year writing and recording. In September, a setback occurred in the form of lost data on the main hard drive used for the recordings. In addition to pushing back the release date of the album to April 2002, it completely changed the sound and direction of the album. The album, Ruined, proved that there was more to Imperative Reaction than relentless club hits. The honesty of the lyrics matched with the raw intensity of the music that supported them set Ruined apart from other electronic industrial bands. Touring in support of the record from 2002 to 2003, the band performed in front of capacity crowds and gained many, many new fans with the successful tour.

Shortly afterwards, work began on their follow-up record. Taking nearly a year to complete, Redemption, their newest album, was established in early 2004. More aggressive than its predecessors, Redemption has a unified feel from start to finish. Each track complements the next without any letdown, and all of them could EASILY be a dance floor hit. Explosive beats, smooth programming, highly charged sequences, and vocals that accentuate the message in the lyrics made Redemption Imperative Reaction's greatest album to date. Imperative Reaction finally came into their own.

Making a splash with Redemption and 2005 tour in support of VNV Nation as well as other high profile shows with Tiger Army and their appearance at the legendary Wave Gothic Treffen Festival in Germany, Imperative Reaction began work their next album. For the interim between releases, the band re-released their out of print debut Eulogy For The Sick Child. The re-issue was completely re-vamped and re-mastered with brand new artwork (including lyrics), two unreleased tracks from the Eulogy… recording sessions and a 2006 remix of their 1999 club hit “Scorpio.”

With expectations high for the next album, Imperative Reaction spent over a year slaving over it. These standards were met and surpassed with the 2006 album, As We Fall, a triumphant, cohesive effort from start to finish. Emotionally driven vocals, punchier bass lines, and driving synths are masterfully blended to display the growth of this phenomenal young act. Drawing from influences ranging everywhere from AFI and Nine Inch Nails to modern EBM and noise, the album stands as a cathartic dance floor classic.

For 2008, Imperative Reaction returns with Minus All, the follow up to their highly acclaimed 2006 release As We Fall. Minus All combines the purely electronic, almost rock feel of their last two albums and expands upon this feel, with thirteen tracks of unbridled aggression. Whether aimed at the dance floors, or the darker, more brooding tracks, IR’s intoxicating mix of driving, urgent melodies and anthemic vocals will continue to win over fans worldwide.

During the first seven years of the bands existence, System Syn self-released five full-length albums, three EPs, remixed over fifteen top electronic artists, appeared on seven different compilations, and contributed to a motion picture soundtrack. On top of all of System Syn's studio work, the band was also building a reputation for themselves as a powerful live act, having shared the stage with such artists as Daniel Ash (of Love and Rockets, Bauhaus and Tones on Tail), Red Flag, Seabound, Stromkern, Informatik, Babyland, and many more.

System Syn eventually caught the attention of record labels, and in 2004 their 1st international debut, Premeditated, was released on Sector 9 Studios in North America and on Out of Line in Europe. To promote the release, System Syn departed for an extensive North American tour with Imperative Reaction. Afterwards, the band left for Germany in November of 2004 to perform at a series of "Out of Line Electro Festivals" with Hocico, Icon of Coil, God Module and Spetsnaz.

In 2005 System Syn made the move to Metropolis Records in North America, to release their next album, Postscript. This release showcased the band's talent for writing highly energetic electronic dance music by kicking it up several notches to create some of the most emotional electronic music in the genre.

System Syn's The Mouring Ritual in 2005 cast doubt among fans on whether the band could surpass the benchmark that they set for themselves. Now, three years later System Syn returns to answer that question. YES! But forget the simple "yes," its more than that. End stands out as one of the most important releases of the 2008. Dripping with catchy hooks and melodies laden with persuasive beats, the emotive lyrics add a dynamic all to themselves. Tracks such as "Like Every Insect," "Open Wrists," and "Blood" are destined for dance-floor dominance, while others such as "Hope," "Broken Fingers," and "The Void" simply make for some damn great listening. If Depeche Mode had balls, it would be System Syn.

info on XP8:
The band, started in 2001 as a trio including previous singer Paul Toohill , composes an airy blend of EBM, electronica, techno and trance, bringing their various visions and talents to life with synthetic vibrancy and danceable beats, crossing electronic genres with relative ease.

Aimed at the heart of the dancefloor, the music keeps listeners moving through the night in timeless waves, emitting subtle hints of the 1980s while slipping easily into sounds of the new millennium: glitchy patterns, sharp simulated strings, and clear vocals travel through bright sequences and brooding atmospheres.

After having released their first demo, Forgive, on the now defunct mp3.com website, and receiving good feedbacks, they signed a deal with the Polish label Black Flames Records, who would reissue the demo on May 2004 as Forgive[n], quickly followed by the RE_Productions EP in October 2004.

In several interviews though, the band seem to consider their real debut the 2005 album Hrs:Min:Sec, released on the acclaimed German label Infacted Recordings.

Over the years, XP8 made a name for themselves due to their energetic live performances: the band played all over Europe, from their native Italy to Russia, and attended prestigious festivals like the Wave Gotik Treffen in Germany. Also their remix work is much sought-after, and bands as different as Attrition, Mortiis, Icon Of Coil and Dope Stars Inc. (among the others) has been remixed by XP8.

Their third studio album, The Art Of Revenge, released on January 18th 2008 once again on Infacted Recordings, immediately received good reviews, and was subsequently licensed in North America to Sigsaly Transmission Media and in Russia to Gravitator Records: meanwhile, it reached place 1 at the Dutch Underground Charts and peaked at 5 at the famous Deutsche Alternative Charts, proving once again how XP8 is constantly on the rise.

I have decided every time there is a fun adventure on the bus. i will write about it formally.

Today, after fleeing the hellishly busy day at work(The Mall...yea i wish it was hellishly busy at the record store) I got on the #76 bus. At Tigard transit center is where the fun began. The last passenger to board the bus was some skummy looking meth fuck. There was somewhat of a discussion between him and the driver.

He sat down and said something and the driver replied i didn't want to embarras you. As the bus is in motion he yells I'll shut you up. the bus comes to a halt. The driver yells for him to get off. He pauses, then walks off and gets his bike.

Then on his way he goes untill he decides to ride his bike in front of the bus. this lasted for about one min. The bus then swerved around him and as expected he looked at the bus driver and waved the one-fingered salute.

And that was the Tri-Met Misadventure of the day.

The reason I am created this fund is because my brother, Josh, was involved brutal attack in LA on the Metro subway on May 15, 2005. The attackers slammed his face repeatedly into the bar on the seat in front of him then proceeded to rob him. He woke up a few hours later and crawled onto a street where someone found him and took him to the hospital. His jaw was broken and detached and is now wired shut, his eye socket fractured, sinuses shattered, nose broken, teeth broken. We feel truly blessed that he is still alive, as he was left for dead. He is doing better now and is out of the hospital, but life is still quite difficult. Thw MTA in Los Angeles has been less than helpful. There was a camera on the train. With no tape in it. It was closed circuit and the driver wasn't watching, didn't even notice my brother was left on the train. He managed to crawl out onto some random street and someone found him. The MTA just mopped up the blood, and never filed a report. My brother's girlfriend attempted to file one, and they came three days later to get his story. They tried to kill my brother. The worst the LA is persuing is a "kidnapping" charge, as they held him on the train. I feel it was attempted murder. You can find his entire story online here in his Friendster Blog.

Myself, in conjunction with some of the top promoters in LA in our scene, are putting together a benefit which will be called 'Antiviolence'. All proceeds for this event will be divided between the National Center for Victims of Crime (who are officially on board, and are excited about this) and for Joshua's medical bills which will be immense due to his lack of health insurance and impending reconstructive surgeries, most to them to his face and jaw. I would like to help my brother as well as give to an organization that has helped him and others nationwide in similar sithations. I have secured the talent line-up for this event, but I am still having difficulty finding a venue in the Los Angeles area that doesn't have an outrageous rental fee or insane bar guarantee. If you can be of any service, please e-mail me at evolve555@hotmail.com

I am also seeking to acquire merchandise for this event. I am also working on a raffle for this event and have confirmed product donations from artists such as AFI, Assemblage23, Imperative Reaction, System Syn and others; as well as donations from labels such as Metropolis Records, DSBP Records, 23db Records and others. I am also in the process of securing donations from local merchants. Please contact me at evolve555@hotmail.com if you are interested.

If you would like to donate money, please use the PayPal/DropCash.com link at the bottom of this page. I would like to thank each of you for your consideration and your kind words. Best wishes to everyone, and please be safe.

Sincerely,
Sam Pfannkuche/Antiviolence LA

Lyrics dart out in bullets from sound-scapes peppered in sharp vocals and sound bites..

Such is the imagery that spawns attrition…from its earlier sparse and stark sound-scapes, to a more expansive palette of orchestral work, Attrition has successfully melded several genres into one. The music flows, from goth to industrial to experimental to classical, so smoothly, they might as well be making their own category.

===================================

This Friday(01/28/05)
Stahlwerks
with Djs
Carrion, Uberlush, NoN, & Burn
Doors at 9:00pm - 21 & Over
FREE! Thu Jan 13th 2005!

NoisePlus/Alfa-Matrix records artist:
COLLIDE
with guests:
Written In Ashes
Submarine Fleet

Doors at 9:00pm - 21+
PRESALE TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT!!! You Can still get in at the door for the show!
$10.00 cover @ The Door

Sabala's Mt. Tabor
4811 SE Hawthorne
Portland, Oregon

Also this show will be filmed by a crew for a future DVD release!

Bio on Collide:
Described as “beauty with an edge”, COLLIDE merges industry and passion within swirling layers of sound and emotion. The name COLLIDE was chosen as it seemed to represent the clashing and melding of styles into a powerful whole. The coming together of two different entities: Statik and kaRIN. To date, the duo have released four full-length CD’s, “Beneath the Skin”, “Distort”, “Chasing the Ghost”, and now “Some Kind of Strange”.

Meaningful lyrics and alluring hypnotic female vocals combine with an aural sculpture to form an experience in listening that manages to defy categorization. “Some kind of Strange” continues on to explore one’s place within themselves and the universe. “I always write from the heart says kaRIN, music is my escape…”. “I think the reason why our sound is a little different is because we do not approach music in the traditional way, We don’t really play music, we try to create soundscapes, layers of depth and sound.”

Sensual, powerful and alluring… The American duo performs an exotic hybrid of Darkwave, Cyber-Dance, and Electronic, with crossover appeal which will appeal to fans of Massive Attack, Curve, Portishead or yet Nine Inch Nails. COLLIDE is about letting the sound orchestration unfold and develop into its own identity…

No strangers to the music industry, Statik has worked with the likes of Tool, Powerman 5000, Love & Rockets and Prince. He is also currently involved in the re-formation of Skinny Puppy. While kaRIN has contributed vocals to Front Line Assembly and Plateau (cEvin Key’s side project).

As in the past, several of guest musicians contribute to the music of COLLIDE. The new album includes the talents of cEvin Key of SKINNY PUPPY as well as Danny Carey from TOOL.

Due to disatisfaction with the music industry COLLIDE began a few years ago their own record label Noiseplus Music. On deciding to self release “this was a decision we had to make, as so much energy and life goes into each song, in layers, development, and levels. We couldn’t bear to allow someone else to have the control of it”. Since April 2003, Noiseplus Music’s releases are marketed in Europe by Alfa Matrix.

Links:
www.collide.net

. . .And We Say Go!
____________________________________________________________

*For More Info*
http://www.damnedevents.com

Damend Events group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/damnedevents

All of you should go to this show! ITS CHEAP! and the last industrial event of 2004! awww yea!

Thursday December 30th 2004

Alfa-Matrix artist:
Unter Null

with guests:
Zonewire & Attenuated Euphoria

Doors at 9:00pm - $5.00 Cover - 21 & Over

Sabala's Mt.Tabor - 4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd.

About Unter Null:
Since 1998, UNTER NULL is nothing but the subliminal creation of a perverse sick mind. Alfa Matrix teamed up with this dangerous creature of the night to release her new album. Beware: our sexy she-devil shouts louder than any industrial animal on the scene! It’s not for nothing that UNTER NULL is more and more often described as the female replica to the SUICIDE COMMANDO league! Her extremely distorted and manipulated vocals will definitely blow your mind.

Musically, UNTER NULL delivers uncompromised harsh elektro assaults with a touch of power noise and ambient industrial. Erica has set attack to the man-dominated world of harsh Electronic Body Music with one sole target: domination and provocation.

____________________________________________________________

*For More Info*
http://www.damnedevents.com

Damend Events group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/damnedevents

Comprised of William Faith (ex- Christian Death, Mephisto Walz, Sex Gang Children, and Shadow Project member) and Monica Richards (ex- Strange Boutique member), Faith and the Muse blend an assortment of musical styles in their work, ranging from gothic/darkwave, to ethereal/ambient, to industrial and classical. The concept of the band was conceived in March of 1993 when Strange Boutique opened for Shadow Project. Each one was impressed with the other's overt theatrically and larger-than-life style of performing. Tapes containing rough ideas were sent back and forth from Faith's home in Los Angeles to Richard's home in Washington, D.C. Finally, in December of 1993, the band was solidified with Richards moving permanently to L.A.

Recording of their first album began a few months later, in March of 1994. Their efforts resulted in Faith and the Muse releasing the debut, Elyria, in June and creating an astounding amount of buzz. Both Fans and critics alike heralded the album for its diverse musical explorations and incantations. Reaching far above all expectations they had for the album, Faith and Richards were amazed at how their new act was accepted. Exhibiting the dance-floor hit Sparks, Elyria made its way onto the CMJ charts, making a favorable impression in the college radio arena. With additional live members, touring began with Faith and the Muse on the multi-band Procession tour. Afterwards, they played a 30-date European tour, spanning seven countries, and an extremely successful German tour. Many of their show dates were to capacity crowds in sold-out venues.

After two years, Faith and the Muse returned with their second album in June of 1996 called Annwyn, Beneath the Waves. The 14-track theatrical concept album swept through an even broader range of musical journeys than its predecessor. Richly laden with ethereal, goth rock, new world and ambient tones, Annwyn... is loosely based on Welsh Celtic myths, which takes the listener back in time to ancestral cobblestones and blight before jolting them full-circle into the illuminating light of present day. Due to the success of the album reaching #16 on the German Alternative Charts, Faith and the Muse were invited to perform at the Zillo Open Air Festival, which is the country s most prestigious gathering for Independent and Alternative Music. After the Festival, they embarked as headliners on another multi-band tour called Apparition.

The summer of 1997 saw Faith and the Muse still touring. This time as an acoustic duo without the theatrics, they played smaller intimate clubs as the Vera Causa Tour. Beginning in North America and ending in Europe, the tour gained great respect and admiration for the band, surprising even them. The following year, Faith and the Muse donned their artistic vanguard and began touring once again, but the sudden and tragic suicide of their live bassist, JT Murphy, left the band deeply in grief. A brief sabbatical was undertaken...

Finally in July of 1999, Faith and the Muse released their third full-length album, Evidence of Heaven. Deeply rooted in classical aesthetics, Elizabethan melodies, and Victorian structures, Evidence of Heaven yielded a haunting, yet divine listening experience. From the album, Scars Flown Proud and Shattered in Aspect became instant dance floor classics. Several more tours ensued such as the Blackout AD - Act I Tour in 1999, and the Evidence of Heaven Tour in 2000, as well as the EuroRock Festival in Belgium and the M'era Luna Festival in Germany. At the M'era Luna, Faith and the Muse shared the stage with the Mission UK and the Sisters of Mercy, performing to an audience of over 20,000 people.

In 2001, Faith and the Muse signed with Metropolis Records to re-release these underground classics, as well as a new two disc set. Vera Causa contains rarities, live tracks, remixes, and covers performed by Faith and the Muse which were previously unreleased.

For 2003, the fourth studio album for Faith and the Muse, The Burning Season, is a daring departure for the band, taking them well outside the realm of traditional goth rock; elements of trance, punk, jazz and straight-up rock 'n roll permeate the different facets of this diverse album, providing a unique and eclectic mix of sounds and styles that is at once familiar, but will surprise many established fans while attracting a whole new mix of music fans to the fold. In theme, The Burning Season finds Faith and the Muse approaching a broad array of topics, touching on personal and social issues in a very direct and confrontational fashion, far removed from the prosaic themes of their previous offerings. A bold new offering by a band with an eye for risk.

Links:
http://www.mercyground.com
http://www.metropolis-records.com
http://www.writteninashes.com

. . .And We Say Go!
____________________________________________________________

*For More Info*
http://www.damnedevents.com

Damend Events group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/damnedevents

William Faith played with such cult
icons as Christian Death and Shadow Project; Monica Richards, who got
her start in music fronting Washington DC hardcore punk bands in the
early 1980's, made a name for herself in the post-punk outfit,
Strange Boutique.

With the release of five albums and one double CD live/remix album,
along with extensive touring throughout the U.S. and Europe over the
last ten years (more than 200 performances), the band has managed to
gain the attention of a vast assortment of music fans, owing to their
constantly evolving sound: undefineable but unmistakeable.

While the music is created by Faith and Richards alone,Faith And The
Muse as a live entity includes additional musicians assisting in the
expression of the music.fans never know what to expect from Faith And
The Muse live; their performances change from tour to tour, featuring
at times theatrical and orchestral instrumentation, or quiet intimate
acoustic events, and other times, straight-up hard rocking shows.

Faith And The Muse have been called "an art band with a pop
sensibility"; artists in the truest sense, refusing to conform to
current fads in music, a high caliber of musical output in their
wake - integrity without question. Well-known and widely respected in
the Underground community, Faith And The Muse have already made their
indelible mark on Independent music and culture. Direct from the underground New
York Goth scene comes this strange brew of gypsy violins, driving
rhythms, sardonic wit and turn-of-the-century mayhem. Combining
beautiful old-world melodies with viciously sarcastic lyrics,
Wagnerian bravado with Brechtian allure, Voltaire has crafted twelve
songs of love, loss, revenge and dismemberment sure to bring a smile
to even the darkest of souls.

Voltaire is a singer/songwriter whose music has its roots deeply
imbedded in European folk music. His songs speak of love and, most
often, the loss thereof with the added twist of how best to seek
revenge on the ones who have hurt you. Lyrically, he explores and
reveals those moments of vulnerability most would rather not discuss
and exploits with childish abandon those fleeting streaks of cruelty
we all feel but choose not to act upon or even mention.

Voltaire's live shows, whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra,
are highly theatrical -full of props and stories. The visual quality
of his performances is not surprising; Voltaire has been directing
commercials and animating short films for the last ten years. He's
best known for his Hieronymous Bosch inspired station ID's for MTV.
Inspired by the films of Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts,
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad), Voltaire began animating at the age of
ten on a super8 camera. At that time, he says, "no three dimensional
object was safe. My brother's action figures, my sister's dolls,
silverware, etc . . . If it was missing, chances were that it was in
the basement in front of my camera."

Eventually, piecing together snippets of information from fanzines,
he was able to teach himself how to make foam rubber animation
models and animate them with fluidity and realism. The films of his
childhood landed him his first directing job in 1988. That project
was the classic MTV ID called "MTV-Bosch." The stop-motion tour of
the hellish "Garden of Earthly Delights" went on to win several
awards including a Broadcast Design Award and helped to establish
Voltaire's style of animation.

His strange stew of gothic darkness, baroque lushness and whimsical
surrealism has been seen in a score of television commercials for
clients such as Cartoon Network, USA and The Sci-Fi Channel. His
short films which he describes as being "an opportunity for me to be
as strange and demented as I care to be," have been seen at
animation festivals around the world, including the sinister
"Rakthavira" which toured as part of Expanded Entertainment's Too
Outrageous Animation.

Links:
http://www.voltaire.net
http://www.Projekt.com

____________________________________________________________

*For More Info*
http://www.damnedevents.com

Damend Events group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/damnedevents

Tabor
4811 SE Hawthorne
Portland, Oregon

Bio on Cruxshadows:
One of the most popular Darkwave bands on the planet, the Crüxshadows started in the early 1990's in a little town in North Florida. Numerous lineup changes over the years have not slowed them down. Touring the United States extensively from Coast to Coast, they have played hundreds of shows to North American Audiences in the last few years. In the Spring of 2001, the Crüxshadows began touring Europe and have since played over 175 shows abroad, in countries like Norway, Sweden, Scotland, Ireland, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland, France, The Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, and Spain. They continue expanding the bands fan-base, slowly moving eastward into a variety of new markets. Two albums and two singles (Wishfire, Ethernaut, Tears, & Winterborn) have all reached #2 on the Deutsch Alternative Charts(DAC), and their European festival shows have drawn audiences as large as 15,000+ people to a Crüxshadows performance.

In the summer of 2002 they released their 5th full length recording, Wishfire. Its unprecidented success in the Gothic genre paved the way for the EP Frozen Embers( the first run was SOLD OUT two days after release) as well as their highly anticipated new Album Ethernaut. The former became the best preselling album EVER in the History of Isotank.com ( a popular gothic/industrial/EBM online distributor), and looks to soon outpace Wishfire in a fraction of the time! A blend of new wave, gothic, and electronica, the bands unique and often catchy songs have become staples of the darkwave, ebm, and electro-alternative scene. Their song Leave Me Alone is the all time highest charting "goth" song on mp3.com, having moved into the mainstream top 10 for a short time. Eurydice, spent over 2 years in the top 40 New Wave charts of mp3.com. Their song Deception, originally part of the Vampire the masquerade- Music from the Succubus club disc, has been recorded in both English and German, and has earned the band much attention worldwide. But it is the song Marilyn, My Bitterness that stands as CXS best known song. and likely there biggest underground hit to date.

With 6 albums, 3 eps, and more compilation appearences than you can shake a stick at, the Crüxshadows have made themselves synonymous with a new breed of electro-goth music.
